Leadership When It Counts: My Experience Serving Spokane
When our community faced a nationwide prosecutor shortage, I did not sit back and complain . . . I stepped up.
As Spokane County’s Chief Criminal Deputy Prosecutor, I was asked to lead the criminal division during one of the most challenging times in our region’s recent history. With limited resources and fewer prosecutors, we had to make hard decisions. I made it my mission to prioritize what matters most: crimes against persons, violent offenders, and crimes against children.
It was not easy. But leadership rarely is.
What I bring to the table is not theoretical. It is practical experience under pressure. I’ve managed crisis, built cross-agency partnerships, and worked hand-in-hand with law enforcement to ensure Spokane’s most dangerous criminals are held accountable. My decisions affect real lives, every day, and that is a responsibility I do not take lightly.
I’ve never been content with mediocrity. I’m inspired by the spirit of those who strive. Those guided by purpose, not tradition. The mission of Prosecuting Attorney is incredibly important. I am investing in that mission and leading with clarity, conviction, and a deep belief that public service is is truly about serving the community. Not serving self.
Leadership is not about ego or ideology. It’s about showing up, solving problems, and staying focused on the people you serve. A leader has to innovate and focus on what works, not just what’s always been done.
Spokane deserves a Prosecutor who can roll with the punches (and there are a lot) and actually do the job. And this is exactly what I will continue to do, integrity, passion, and grit.
